Background Checks

Anyone on the field or in the dugout helping a SCSL team must have a background check and an ID badge. All interested parties in coaching or volunteering to help with a team must register with SCSL and have the background check completed by Roanoke County Parks and Recreation. No volunteer will be permitted to be on the field with players in any capacity if not registered with SCSL, even if the volunteers have a badge from another Roanoke County sport. 

Volunteers in any capacity must be approved by the SCSL Board of Directors. 

Once the background check is complete the badges will be picked up at the Roanoke County Parks and Recreation building located at 1206 Kessler Mill Road, Salem, VA 24153. Hours of operation are 8:30am-4:30pm. 

Minimum Age for Coaches

The minimum age for Head Coach volunteers for SCSL is 20 years old. 

The minimum age for Assistant Coach volunteers for SCSL is 18 years
